Skin Cancer Is Personal

By Victoria Kopec Published On: June 4, 2025 Last Updated: November 7, 2025

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the world. But it affects each individual in unique and very personal ways.

When a person hears the words “You have skin cancer,” they are often frightened and completely unprepared for what comes next. No two skin cancer journeys are the same. Some people face life-threatening, years-long battles; others experience extensive scarring, as well as lasting physical and emotional damage.

The Skin Cancer Foundation is here to help people make sense of it all, by providing educational information about skin cancer, its detection, prevention and treatment, along with support resources and community programs. To us, skin cancer is personal.
